The Fifth Toy Story Film Trailer Sets Woody and Buzz Against a Digital Device
Exactly 30 anniversary since the original Toy Story movie was released, establishing Pixar as a major film company and bringing audiences to iconic figures like the cowboy doll (the actor) and Buzz Lightyear (Tim Allen), who are now household names.
In 2026, the fifth installment is scheduled for release. The first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5 appeared this week, offering a glimpse into the plot but keeping fans wondering how it will address the conclusion of Toy Story 4.
Bonnie's New Toy: A Frog-Shaped Tablet Spooks the Gang
The preview reveals the young girl — who received the toy collection when he left for college — getting a latest plaything, one that terrifies the familiar toy group. Bonnie acquires her first tablet computer, and she is excited about it.
Theoretically, the amphibian-inspired device will animate just like the rest of her playthings. However, the toys seem to view it as a danger intending to supplant them, which it probably is.
The Cowboy's Comeback: Mysteries from Toy Story 4
An element the trailer doesn't touch on is what Woody is back with his friends in the child's bedroom. The end of Toy Story 4 depicted him embark on a fresh journey with the shepherdess (the actress), traveling with a carnival and helping giveaway items find good homes.
Certainly, the filmmakers will explain the consequences of Toy Story 4 in the film. Witnessing him appear in the familiar setting without warning is a little strange, however. It also makes us wonder whether Bo Peep will have returned with Woody. And where is Duke Caboom (the star)?
Connections from the Last Installment
Fortunately, some aspects are carrying over from the earlier movie. The last thing Woody did before setting off for his new life was pass his symbol of authority to Jessie (the voice actor), leaving her in charge of the toy domain. In the teaser shows the badge attached to her outfit.
It is hoped she is remains the driving force among the group.
Toy Story 5 debuts on June 19, 2026.
